Ahjah was a college student at Navarro College. She died in the Corsicana jail after her arrest on suspicion of alcohol and drug use in the dormitory. According to campus police, after arrest she had problems breathing and told officers she needed air. She was then taken to a recreation yard where she also asked for water. There is a video that shows the police taking Ahjah from the cell where she is walking without assistance. Less than 2 hours after the video was taken, Ahjah was dead.
